We Are Forest
About the Project
Through four workshops, Artist in Residence Jill Price worked with BWG community members to co-create elements of We Are Forest, an interactive installation that explores human interconnections with trees. This project is supported by a donation from the Bradford United Church upon its closing to the BWG Friends of the Library.
About the Artist
Dr. Jill Price is an award winning interdisciplinary Canadian artist, curator, educator, and writer. Grateful to be living and working on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe peoples, Price earned her BFA and BEd from Western University and a PhD from Queen's University.
As Artist in Residence at the BWG Public Library, Dr. Price will engage community members in an exploration of the deep connections between humans and trees. Her installation will transform recycled paper into a suspended canopy of hand-cut leaves, echoing the beauty of a living forest.
Holland Marsh Centennial Art Contest

The Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library, in partnership with the Town of BWG and the South Simcoe Arts Council, invited artists of all ages to submit their artwork for a juried exhibit celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Holland Marsh.

Any visual art inspired by or referencing the Holland Marsh was eligible. We welcomed work in all mediums: painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, and more.

Flight of the Knowledge Keepers

Project Partners

About the Project
The library is proud to unveil Flight of the Knowledge Keepers by Annwin, winner of a call for proposals for a public art installation by an Indigenous artist. Her artwork reflects "the cyclical journey of learning, oral traditions, and knowledge sharing among community, family, and friends — carried from within and out into the world on the wings of each individual journey of flight through life."
Rooted in the history of Bradford West Gwillimbury as the beginning of the Carrying Place Trail, Annwin's piece invites reflection on knowledge, freedom, and the ways information brings us together while celebrating our diversity.
Supported by Experience Simcoe County and the Friends of the Library, Annwin's proposal was selected by an Indigenous-led steering committee made up of BWG community members and representatives from the Library and STEPS Public Art.
About the Artist
Annwin is a self-taught mixed-First Nations artist with a passion for creating, particularly in watercolour. She began her artistic journey during the pandemic and, over the past four years, has explored opportunities across Toronto and York Region that have supported her growth and experience as an emerging artist.
Annwin enjoys making her own paints and art supplies by hand, honing her skills in traditional beading, and spending time with her two dogs.
