Process for Contactless Pick Up


In order to allow the BWG Library to continue to offer services to our community, we are now offering Curbside Pick Up. Important details include:



  • You will be contacted by your preferred contact method when your hold is ready for pick up. After that, you are welcome to come to the BWG Library any time Monday, Tuesday, Friday or Saturday from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. or Thursday from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m.  You will have one week to pick up your materials, after which your holds will be cancelled.


  • You will need your library card number to get your materials.  Please remember to bring your library card or make sure you have your library card number with you (for example if you registered online and do not have a physical card).   


  • Staff will be at the front of building to bring you your material to be picked up. Please come to the front doors, respectfully physically distance from other patrons, sanitize your hands and wear a mask or face covering. If there is a line, please be patient.  


  • In accordance with local regulations, all borrowers and staff are required to wear a mask or face covering while accessing our contacless pick up service and social distancing must be maintained.  Only residents of the Simcoe Muskoka Region are able to access material through Curbside Pick Up service.

Computer Cafe Now Open


The BWG Computer Cafe is now open during Curbside Pick Up hours!  Please wear a mask and socially distance when using these services.  Librarians will be at the front doors to assist you with using these services or click here for more details.

Computer Use


Computers are available in the Library, which has been reconfigured to allow for social distancing.  Computer sessions are limited to 30-minutes per person, per day. This time limit is to allow for COVID-19 related cleaning and to ensure equal access to the internet. Borrowers will be asked to use hand sanitizer prior to using a computer. Important details include:


  • Borrowers will be able to use a computer for one half-hour per day on a first-come, first-served basis;
  • Check in with a BWG Library staff member when you arrive to join the queue;
  • No library card is required to use the Wi-Fi or to access our computers;
  • In accordance with local regulations, all borrowers and staff are required to wear a mask or face covering while in the Library and social distancing must be maintained.

Virtual Programs


Check our Facebook page ( regularly for suggestions from our extensive online database and tutorials on how to access these resources. We will be sharing information about crafts, activities, audiobooks for the whole family and many other resources to make the upcoming weeks a little easier for parents and caregivers.



What are your hours of operations? 

Our hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m. 


Do I need to wait to be notified about my holds being ready to pick up? 

Yes, the Library will contact you by your preferred contact method to let you know that your hold is ready. When you receive that email or phone call, you can come anytime during hours of operation to pick up your items.  Please allow two hours after you receive a pick up notification before coming to the BWG Library.


Do I need an appointment, or to call from the parking lot when I arrive?

No, you can approach the building and will be permitted with limited access to pick up your materials. 


Do I need to wait for 24-hours after I receive my notification? 

No, we have removed the 24-hour wait time in an effort to serve you better, however please allow two hours after you receive a pick up notification before coming to the BWG Library.


Will ILLO services be offered? 

No. Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to reinstate ILLO. 


Can you ensure when material will become available? 

No. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of the current situation, we can not provide a timeline for when material will become available.


Are your drop boxes open? 

Yes, we will be accepting returns through our outside drop box. However, we require that patrons respect physical distancing when returning materials. Please do not leave returns on the contactless pick up table. 


Are there fines if my materials are late? 

 In order to encourage physical distancing and proper material quarantine times strict due dates and fines will be suspended until 2021. However, we do encourage you to return materials when you are finished with them so others may enjoy them.


I have returned my materials – why are they still on my account? 

Materials will stay on a patron account for the duration of the quarantine, which is a minimum of seven days, but may take staff longer depending on the volume of returns.


I have donations – can I drop them off? 

No. At this time we are unable to accept donations. 


Can I pick up materials for friends and family? 

Yes, you can pick up material for friends and family. You need to have their library card number and you must bring that information with you when you come to pick up their material. You will also be asked to leave your contact information. 


Can I cancel my reservation? 

Yes, if you no longer want your reservation, you can respond to the email we send notifying you that your reservation is ready and let us know to cancel it. You can also contact us by phone at 905-775-3328 ext. 6109 or cancel within your online account.


Can I get all my reservations at once? 

Your email will let you know what is available for you. Unfortunately, we can not guarantee when items will become available and can not ensure that all your reservations will be available at the same time.
